The last 80286 portable that Compaq released, this one featured a bright "orange" gas plasma display. The display was also adjustable, something that had not been seen at the time. Like most portables at the time, this one did not have batteries so it still had to be plugged into a standard power source. This machine was also distinguished by the fact that it was launched simultaneously in 12 countries. This 12 MHz machine was capable of supporting 2MB RAM and shipped for a staggering $4995 US with a 20 MB Hard Disk. Its model number is 2660.

I remember seeing those in a large insurance company in Montreal, where I was doing a co-op term in 1987. The people there called them 'lunchbox PCs'.
