MacIntercomm Lite is a telecommunications program (originally developed by Mercury Computing) that was known for its ability to transfer a file at full speed in the background regardless of what was going on in the foreground.

It also supported all Macs that were out at the time with a minimum of 1MB of RAM. It included various file transfer protocols and emulations of various terminal types.
