Atari 8-Bit

Release Date: 1/1/1985
Manufacturer: Optimized Systems Software

BASIC XE is an enhanced BASIC cartridge with it's roots in the original Atari BASIC but much enhanced. BASIC XE is an enhanced version of BASIC XL, contained additional functions and high-speed math routines. Because it required 64 KB, it would only run on an XL/XE system.

Available in an OSS bank-selected cartridge and extension disk. No compiler or runtime was made available. The BASIC XL runtime could be used, but restricted to only XL functions.

Some trivia - apparently this version sold poorly and was a money loser. We are not exactly sure how many of these cartridges were made but we feel lucky to have one!
