Aegis Development was formed in 1985 by William Volk, Dave Barrett, Michelle Mehterian, and John Skeel. Originally intended to publish Macintosh titles, Aegis soon turned its focus onto the then new Amiga platform and produced a wide variety of software packages from productivity to games. The company is most notable for publishing Aegis Animator, a precursor to Adobe Flash and Videoscape 3D which eventually became LightWave, a popular 3D animation software package.
